How do I filter a data exploration using a watchlist?

When you use the Data Explorer on student metrics, you can filter the data according to the students contained in a watchlist.

Open Data Explorer

In the Navigation Menu, click the Data Explorer link [1].

To open a saved exploration, click the exploration name link [2].

To start a new exploration, click the Start Exploring button [3].

Note: You can also open the Data Explorer from a chart or from a student scorecard.

Open Metrics

If you are starting a new exploration, click the Choose Metric button.

Select Metrics

In the Metrics page, click the student metric type you want to explore [1], then click the metric name [2]. You can also search for a metric [3].

To select multiple metrics, click the Select Multiple checkbox [4].

For more information about a metric, hover over the metric name [5]. Then, view the metric description [6].

To select the metric, click the OK button [7].

Note: You can change the selected metric or add additional metrics at any time. Learn more about creating a data exploration.

Filter Exploration

Click the Filter button.

Select Watchlist Filter

To filter on a watchlist, click the Student category item [1], then click the Watchlist button [2].

Select Watchlist(s)

Click the checkbox for one or more watchlists [1]. To select all watchlists, click the Select all from this page checkbox [2].

Then, click the OK button [3].

View Exploration

View the metrics filtered according to the students on the selected watchlists.

If needed, you can refine the data further.
